How is suspense created?

The clip I chose to show suspense was the film 'Rendition'. At the beggining of the clip, there is non digetic and digetic sounds that contrast. For example, there is some non digetic music playing that sounds as if something bad is building up, however, there is also a conversation between a couple that is very happy and loveable. There is also a key speech during the clip that makes the audience want to know more about the film. The music at the beggining slowly builds up the tension as it becomes faster, the volume increases and more sounds are being added till eventually there is a massive explosion which defiantley creates suspense as the audience want to know more. However, the music isn't the only aspect of this clip that creates suspense, the mise en scene and lighting helps. Through out the clip, the lighting is very dim which becomes scary, especially when alot of the scenes are in dull dark places. The clip ends with an actress screaming which creates suspence as we don't know what is happening.
