Skills Audit: Editing

These pictures show the process used in order to create our trailor. This particular picture shows the editing stage of the project. In the picture you'll notice the green and blue tabs, this is our actual trailor in the editing format.

Story Board for Chasing Fate

This is the animated story board that shows the individual shots in our trailor.
The pictures were drawn and then turned into a slideshow video using microsoft power point.
There are roughly 16 shots in this short clip and due to adjustments made while filming, some shots have not been drawn and added to this video.

Skills Audit: Creation of Titles

We used the Live type programme to complete this section of the project.
Live type allows you too add typography to your video. We have uploaded two pictures of the 'adding font' proccess to show the different stages taken to produce the desired font.
The top picture basically shows us moving and adjusting the words to fit with our trailor. The second picture shows colour being added to the words. With this programme, there are a variety of different fonts and styles to use depending on what kind of video you are producing.

Skills Audit: Filming

In order to create our short thriller clips, we filmed for approximately three days. We used a range of shots such as:

Extreme close up- for example, the shots when making breakfast.

High angled shots- for example, when the protagonist is running down the canal.

Ground shots- for example, the shot of the protagonists feet running.

Medium close up- for example, when the protagonist is getting out of bed.

Over the shoulder shots- for example when the protagonist is making tea.

Low angled shots- for example, when the protagonist opens her wardrobe.

Whilst filming, we mainly used the tripod to keep the shot still and at a constant level. However, we also used the camera hand held when the protagonist is running down the canal to create a panic effect.

Location Shots

This video documents the different location shots that we took. we filmed at the regents canal and in mickala dahl's house and area.

Analysis of Font Activity

In our Media lesson, we briefly analysed the font/typography on the cover of 'Rocky Balboa'. We learnt why certain fonts are used for certain films.
For this particular film, 'Sans Serif' was used which may be represented as an impact of a punch. Also, the bold, capital letters show masculinity.

Camera Equiptment Tutorial

During this tutorial, we was introduced to the camera's and equiptment we will be working with in order to produce our thriller clips. We were firstly shown and told what each part of the camera was called. We were then showed how to insert our memory cards, how to zoom the camera, get the lense into focus ect.
We then were then told the safety regulations for the equpitment, which were:
  • Making sure all the bolts were tightened properly on the tripod before inserting the camera onto it.
  • Making sure the camera was secure on top of the tripod before letting go.
  • Carry the equiptment responsibly.

Technical Audit Of "Bait Tutorial"

During this lesson, I learnt some important skills by using the software 'Final Cut Pro'. This tutorial was very important for my practical work as I would be using these skills when making video clips. Some of the skills I learnt were:
  • The razor blade tool, this allowed me to cut certain sections of my clip that were not needed.
  • Dragging of clips with the double headed arrow to change the length of the clip
  • Dragging clips onto the time line
